An Old Earth and Christianity

The conflict between Christianity and worldly thinking has a major batleground when it comes to the Biblical description of Creation as in Genesis 1 chapters 1 to 12.

Evolutionists believe that the Earth is very old. There are many ages given but around 4-5 billion years is generally accepted by them. But it is important to realise that there is no evidence that proves their theories. Elaborate structures of assumptions are not scientific evidence.

The beliefs and the resulting pre-conceptions of each person will allow them to see the Earth as they expect it to be. Consequently evolutionists see a very old Earth, because they need that idea for their belief in evolution, and those Christians who accept Genesis as a truthful description of Creation see a very young Earth because that is what the Christian Bible says.

The scientists cannot prove evolution using science and the Christians shouldn't expect that anyone who is not a Christian to accept Creation in six days.

Why do many Christians not believe in the Genesis description of Creation?

The only answer, as I see it, is because some Christians are too embarrassed to defend a faith position against what the world sees as a scientifically proven fact. It is not surprising that people have trouble holding on to a position of faith when people around them mock them for what they say.

Many schools and universities work hard to attack Christian faith positions. Heathen professors and teachers, so confident in their own abilities, seem to enjoy making Christians look foolish in front of their peers.

The result is that people have come up with their own versions of the Christian creation. They try to fit the Biblical Creation into what they think that the world can accept. What they are actually doing is limiting God to the abilities of man!

The consequences of adapting Christian to 'fit' current worldly thinking can be quite significant. The Catholic Church recently offically adopted evolution as being true. The Creation story is just a myth! Some people have come up with their theories on how the Bible can fit into an evolutionary process. But these theories are based on current scientific knowledge.

Scientists have a habit of changing things! Darwin's theory of evolution has taken serious blows to it's credibility with an understanding of the complex mechanisms within cells and DNA. The Catholic Church would make the same decision if they were making it now! All the theories that fit Christianity into evolution are looking more and more silly as the theory of evolution looks to be more and more false!
